A Journey Unfolds...
Hello, and welcome to what I hope is the start of a long chain of writing and documenting my jump into a new activity in my life.
Rebel Badge Book
I recently purchased a book titled Rebel Badge Book by Charly Lester. This book is like a guiding or scouting program, but updated and adjusted for adults. As soon as I saw the advertisement on Facebook, I was interested and excited to sign myself up for this adventure. Since I'm "across the pond" from the author and most of the individuals signed up on the Facebook group, I have had quite a bit of fun learning some of the subtle differences in verbiage and using Google to help me make ends meet.
My book came in on July 8th, just in time for me to take it with me on a camp out for my Girl Scout troop to briefly look at during down time. I wasn't able to fully dive into it until I got home on Sunday. I decided to start my adventure by purchasing a few of the optional challenge badges that have been shared in the Rebel Badge Blog and in the Facebook group. My thought was "well, you can certainly use these to push yourself towards a good place to start" and that's just what I'm doing!
Be Kind Challenge
The first challenge that I plan to work towards is the Be Kind Challenge. For this one, I have to meet the following requirements, over the course of 3 months:
- Complete 'My Talents' badge
- Complete one Wellness badge (green)
- Complete two Global badges (blue)
- Make or do something for someone else as part of either a Creative (purple) or Grown Up badge (yellow)
- Complete at least 4 random acts of kindness
As of now, I've decided for my Wellness requirement I want to complete the 'Reader' badge, and for my two Global requirements, I want to complete the 'Linguist' and 'Community Service' badges. Although I just started this journey, there is some backdating of requirements allowed, and due to my 3 year commitment thus far to leading a group of scouts, the one backdate allowance I've decided to give myself is the 'Community Service' badge. So, one badge down and 3 to go (along with a few kind acts for good measure).
I'm excited for this journey ahead of me and look forward to sharing it, even if I'm the only one who realizes this blog exists.
