The Importance of Being Earnest: Critic Evaluation
I recently went to a local production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest . My very good friend performed in it, playing the part of Cecily, and I wanted to support her. I figured that going and writing my own review of it would be just an added benefit. I wish my husband and I had chosen different seats for the performance, as they were very comfortable but because it was a loveseat in the back, we ended up sinking down quite a bit below the chair line for the seats in front of us. Despite that fact, I really enjoyed the small twists that were put into the play. Some of the coincidences that fell together so neatly at the end were very nice to watch unfold. I also enjoyed how the actors pulled everything together and played off of one another throughout. It is interesting to watch something written for audiences over a century ago and seeing some of our own modern interpretations on them.
